There could be a thousand reasons that you could require a water filtration system. I have recently come to realise that the quality of water supplied through taps is terrible. It always tastes strange, an over chlorinated taste and it is stored in places that breed untold germs and bugs. A water borne disease is something all of us most definitely want to avoid.
Buying pre bottled water is in no way cost effective, the supermarkets charge a fair whack for a decent sized container and these large bottles of water weigh a substantial amount. There are much better ways to maintain a good supply of fresh, drinkable water.
When you look around on the internet for soft water filtration systems you will find an abundance of systems available. There are plenty available for permanent fixtures within the home but if you need a portable system you are more limited.
The Big Berkey Water Filter is a great option.
If you need a portable system most of the jug style filter systems are indeed very small, only hold a couple of litres at best. The Big Berkey Water Filter is a large stainless steel container that stores 2.1 gallons of water.
This model has two black filters that can supply three and a half gallons of water per hour.
The unit stands at 21” high unpacked and only weighs 7 pounds when empty so moving it around is not much trouble!
The water is supplied through a quick pour spout on the front of the stainless steel container.
- Only weighs 7lbs
- Stores up to 2.1 gallons of water
- 21inches high
- Has two filters which remove lead, bacteria, parasites, germs, pesticides and chemicals including chlorine
Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down???
There are some very good points about this filter system. One of them is the easy pour spout on the front, as simple as turning the tap and you are supplied the water you need.
The stainless steel design makes it easy to keep clean and the simple fact it holds so much water is the most obvious feature I can mention.
The only downside I can see is that replacement filters cost a fair bit but the money saved on not having to buy water from the stores means you are making a saving in the long run.
I have to say the Big Berkey Water Filter provides good, drinkable water whenever you need it. It removes all sorts of nasties from the water supply, be it a lake, a river or the tap. The water supplied tastes fresh and clean.
The unit holds a good amount of water and doesn’t break the bank. Great option if you are looking to keep yourself healthy.
